PREFACE
The" first  part of  this  little book is simply a collection of the original  Halton  Songs which  have  been  used in the Comic Operas " Time Flies," " Flat Out" and "Carry On," and in the Mock  Trials  which  have  been   produced by  the  Halton  Society    (formerly   the   Halton   Debating  Society).   The songs   have   been  written  for,  and  first  sung  by  Aircraft Apprentices   of  the  Royal  Air  Force;  they  have  all been written,   composed  and   sung  by   amateurs.   The. Halton Society  has undertaken  the printing of this book in the hope that the  words,  at  any  rate, may   not  be lost, and in order  that   some  of   the  more  popular  ones may   be   used  as community song:,  wherever members of Royal Air Force are gathered together,
The  music of songs Nos. 1 to 32 is given in the Halton Song Book,  which  may  be  obtained  (price 2/-)  from the Hon.  Secretary,   Halton  Society,  R.A.F.   Halton,  Bucks. The   music of the  later   Halton   'songs   has   not   been printed.   The songs are copyright, all rights are reserved

Part 2 is a miscellaneous collection of songs  and  paraodies used  by  the  R.N.A.S., R.F.C. and R.A.F. during the war; of  more   recent  parodies   which  have   been  popular  at Halton; and of a few of the old war songs of the kind which seem to  last  for ever.  Such a collection cannot possibly be complete, and the Halton Society will be glad to hear of any other songs which might be included in a later edition of this book.
The  songs  in  Part 2  have  been collected  from  so  many different sources it would hardly be possible to  trace all the holders  of  copyright  where  such  exists,  but  as  this little book  is only issued for private  sale without  profit we hope that   any  copyright   holder  will   forgive  any   inadvertent infringement of their rights.
